In this video and PDF I have 5 exercises to help you practice the chromatic scale. I find the chromatic scale incredibly useful in practicing jazz and classical, and especially in developing my technique. I like to:

  1. Isolate the index finger

  2. Use the symmetry of the piano to practice both hands with same fingerings

  3. Develop the two handed standard chromatic scale (4 octaves)

  4. Practice the chromatic scale in thirds (4 octaves)

  5. The money exercise: chromatic scale in thirds with symmetric opposite motion
